Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser: Yay or Nay?

So, a little while ago I bought this pore eraser/primer on impulse when I was browsing make-up. I have a slight problem with enlarged pores and I thought this sounded ideal. The packaging is gorgeous.. it looks new and exciting and I just had to have it.

It comes out as a clear gel-like substance. Now, I've used gel primers before and I'm not a huge fan but I though I'd give it a go.

I used it a few times but after the excitement of a new product fizzled out I realised it wasn't a prodyct for me and it's sat unused in my make-up box since.

The reason I didn't like this product is that, although it did feel like it was providing a nice smooth canvas for my foundation, it didn't sink into my skin at all. It just left it feeling greasy. Even when I applied foundation over it, it still felt greasy and I didn't like it at all.

So I'm sorry Maybelline, but this time it's going to have to be a nay. I just couldn't get on with this product and won't be buying again.

Let me know if you've had the same experience or if you in fact love this product!

Makeup Bag Essentials!

So I though I'd write a post about the makeup items that I just could not live without. These are the items that I use every day to create a basic look before I apply my chosen look for the day (or if I'm going for the bare look!)

So first things first.. before I start my make-up I put on this flannel headband to get all my hair out of my face. My make-up has become so much easier since I bought this! You can get these all over the place but I bought mine from The Body Shop for £4.00.

Primer!!! Primer is one of the best make-up items I have discovered. I love it. For those of you who don't know what primer is.. it's basically a layer that you put on that creates a nice smooth surface for your foundation to lie on. It's just amazing. It's so good for your skin as it stops your foundation from clogging your pores. It makes your make-up last longer. It makes the foundation sit more naturally on your skin. It is just a must have. And on the left are two of my favourite primers. The red one is much thicker as it's designed to last longer so use that one if you're planning a day out and need your make-up to last. Otherwise, the blue one is lovely and spreads far so it's lasts for ages.
Now before we come to foundation.. my foundation and concealer brush is something that I could not live without. I bought this from Superdrug and I love it. It's super soft and makes applying my foundation so much easier. It also washes easily with a little bit of soap :)

This is my main foundation (yes, I know the photo is upside down.. my computer hates me). It's a thick foundation that gives great coverage. I like to mix it with a little liquid foundation to thin it out a bit and make it easier to apply. It doesn't last as long as I'd like, but for the price it's okay. I've been using this foundation for a while now and, although I love to try out new foundations, I always end up coming back to this one.

My blusher/powder brush!! So soo useful. This is the QV5 Natural Powder Brush and can be purchased from Superdrug. It's brilliant. It's soft and provides an even distribution of powder. I just love it.

Bronzer. A must have for summer. the Rimmel London Natrual Bronzer Powder is among my favourites. I apply it with the brush pictured above and it looks great. It's a matte finish and has SPF of 15 which isn't bad! I wear it on my cheeks and a subtle amount on the higher parts of my face (wear the sun naturally hits). This creates the illusion of a lovely tan and I love it!

Lipstick Reviews!! The Best and the Worst XD

Hi guys! So I've wanted to start a blog for a while now but haven;t really known what I'd write. I've recently been getting really into beauty and make-up etc. so thought.. a beauty blog! (cause there's not many of them right??). So I'm going to be posting some of my best beauty tips.. reviews.. and the cheapest places to buy awesome products.

Anyway, I'm really excited to start so I'm going to jump right in with something that I am OBSESSED with at the moment ... LIPSTICK... so I'm throwing together a quick 'Lipsticks Review'. I'll also post links to the cheapest places (that I've found anyway!) to buy each of them! Enjoy :)

Let's quick things off with the Rimmel London Kate Collection Lasting Finish Lipstick.. in shade 01. I bought this a little ago because I didn't have something that every girl needs in her make-up bag... the classic red lipstick. It is a beautiful colour.. not too bright but just red enough. The actual lipstick is not one of my favourites however. I like it but I don't love it. It feels invisible when it's on the lips which is a bonus but I haven't found that it lasts all that well, despite the name. So this is not one that I'd go out of my way to recommend but I also wouldn't shun it. LIKE Buy for £4.39 here.

Moving on.. the Max Factor Lipstick in Shade 745 Burnt Caramel. Okay, where do I begin. This was the lipstick that got me addicted to lipsticks. That really says it all. It's the most gorgeous colour; paired with some smokey eyes great for a night out or equally perfect for a more natural but made up look. I love it. It's so soft as it goes on and gives my lips just the right amount of colour. I really can't fault it. A make-up bag must have. LOVE Limited Stock £4.99 here!!

From great to great.. the Maybelline colour sensational lipstick in shade 630 Velvet Beige. Now if I could only ever use one lipstick, this would be it. It is my go to everyday natural look lipstick. It gives my lips a gorgeous dose of colour whilst appearing completely natural and feeling lovely and soft. It also lasts really well which is great, although I will always carry it in my handbag for a quick touch-up if need be! LOVE Buy for just £6.99 here!

So the next two are fairly similar.. both from collections that focus on moisture replenishment. This one is the Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipstick in Shade  38 Bonbon Caramel Toffee Cream (Longest name of shade ever.) I absolutely love this lipstick. Not only is the colour rich and natural and the lipstick soft and (as it aims to be) moisturising.. the case is a beautiful metallic red which I just love. And its the perfect size to slip into a pocket or bag when going out. LOVE you can buy it here for £1.49!!!

So next it the Rimmel London moisture renew collection lipstick in shade 180 Vintage Pink. Now as you have probably noticed, I love my neutrals.. but I was a little daring with this shade (ahem).. it's a pinky purply (is that a word??) colour and I really like it. It's not an everyday lipstick as it's one that has to match the rest of your makeup but the feel and application is lovely, and it lasts really well. LIKE Limited Stock £2.99 here.
Finally.. we come to the Loreal Paris Collection Privee in Shade Nude by Cheryl. Now I love Cheryl (who doesn't?) which is basically the reason I bought it. Sadly, I could not get on with this lipstick at all. It really adds no colour to my lips, just makes them look a little shiny. And yes, it does feel nice a soft to wear but we don't wear makeup because it feels nice do we?? So I'm sorry Cheryl (and Loreal) but unfortunately this lipstick is not for me. DISLIKE If you're ignoring my review you can purchase here for £6.99 :).

So I hope you enjoyed my first beauty blog post! Please comment with your thoughts and experiences of these lipsticks.. and if you find somewhere cheaper to buy them let me know!
